| Involved in EMS / F.F. since 1986 |

| Kim started out in 1985, at the age of 17, with the Fire Service. She joined the West Branch Volunteer Fire Department, Watsontown. As a Junior Firefighter, and being very nervous in a male dominant setting, she tried to learn the do's and dont's of Firefighting. She attended many fire classes through Muncy Area Mutual Aid and WACC. Kim received a lot of support from her family, friends and the veteran members of the Fire Dept. As time went on, Kim became more confident and gained a lot of new friends from the Fire Dept. This was her 2nd family and her home away from home. In 1986 Kim decided to explore the EMS side. She attended EMT classes through the SEHS Council. Upon taking the classes, she gained a true respect for EMS and decided the Fire and EMS career is what she wanted to pursue. Again, being supported by her family and new found friends, she passed and became an EMT. Kim obtained her first job in 1987 with EMTS Ambulance Service, working between the Williamsport and Lewisburg Offices. Kim maintained her love for the Fire Service and became more and more involved. She served as Assistant Secretary, Secretary and assisted with setting up trainings and drills with the Fire Dept. Kim also gained an interest in the SEHS Council. She started helping with EMT classes, initially as a victim and later in years as a secondary instuctor. In 1989 Kim applied with the Danville Ambulance Service, she was hired as a full time EMT. In 1989, Kim chose to move to Danville and pursue her EMS career. In the years with Danville Ambulance, Kim served as Training Officer, Secretary and Chief Driver. In 1991, Kim obtained a part time EMT position with Geisinger Medical Centers Medic 47. Towards the end of 1991, Kim was offered a full time position with GMC Medic 47. She remained part time with Danville and also continued to volunteer. Kim also joined 3 of the area Fire Departments, East End Fire Department-Washington Fire and Hose and Washingtonville F.D. Kim became the first female driver of the Washington Fire and Hose Dept. In 1991, Kim attended Paramedic School at Luzerne County Community College. Graduating in 1992 and obtaining her Medical Command, she continued working for GMC Medic 47 and Danville Ambulance. In 1996, GMC Medic 47 was eliminated from the hospital, ALS Services were taken over by Danville Ambulance. Kim was hired by Danville Ambulance as the ALS Supervisor. In 1997, Danville expanded and placed an ALS crew at the Elysburg Fire Dept. Kim then transferred to the Elysburg Station as the Station Supervisor. On January 17, 2000, The Elysburg Fire Department took over and started providing their own ALS services in the area. Kim was hired as the Operations Manager of EMS until May of 2008 in which, after 8 1/2 years, she chose to resign her position. She is also a member of the East End Fire Dept, Mahoning Township. Kim also works as a part time Paramedic with AREA Services. Kim recently re-obtained her CPR, First Aid Instructor and Evaluator status through the SEHSC. Kim credits her career success to her family and friends. Your continued support, criticism and inspiration helped me to obtain my career goals. You will all have special places in my heart forever. Take Care and Be Safe !! |
