Following in the footsteps of his Father and Brother, Matt joined the Fire Service at age 14.  His
roots began and still grow from the East End Fire Company -  Station 220 now incorporated into
the Kulpmont Fire Department (KFD) where he climbed the ladder from the rank of Lieutenant
to Chief of Department.  While commanding the KFD, Matt was instrumental in designing and
instituting the Cadet program and receiving multiple fire service grants to upgrade equipment and
apparatus. After two successful consecutive terms as Chief, Matt concluded his Chief Officer
status with Kulpmont Fire Department on January 1, 2007. He is currently a Sernior Firefighter
and Apparatus Operator with his home company.

In 1993, Matt became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and supplemented his EMT
training by becoming a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT-II). Furthering his
education, Matt became a Nationally Registered Paramedic / Firefighter I and holds many
additional training certificates in the fire, rescue, emergency medical services and juvenile justice.
Matt is also a National Fire Academy Alumnus. His educational goals are to become a certified
Fire Investigator and Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse.

Matt is a Full-Time Paramedic/Firefighter with the Elysburg Fire Department and a Paramedic
with AREA Services, Inc. of Shamokin. He is also an active volunteer member of the Overlook
Fire Company (Station 290) and Brady Fire Company (Station 150). he is a member of the Mount
Carmel Area FOOLS (Fraternal Order of Leatherhead Society). Matt is also an active member of
the Overburg Fire District where he holds the position of Fire Commisioner.
(Overburg is not a real Fire Dept. in the area)

He enjoys camping, hunting, fishing, playing cards, cooking, remodeling and most importantly
spending time with his family, friends and fiance', Amy. Matt and Amy are currently house
hunting, planning their upcoming wedding and expecting the birth of their first child.


On October 16, 2004, Matts Father passed away. Since this time, Matt has dedicated all of his
work as a Paramedic/Firefigter in the memory of his Father and has established a scholarship in
his name dedicated to assisting individuals furthering their education in the public safety sector.
